The South Carolina Botanical Garden (SCBG) is a sanctuary for biodiversity that helps people reengage with nature. We strive to serve as an interdisciplinary resource focusing on teaching, research and outreach that advances awareness and understanding of the natural world, particularly plants. As the state botanical garden, we exist for enjoyment and education and are available and accessible to all people. Our grounds are open and free of charge 365 days a year from sunrise to sunset.
In addition to the SCBG’s botanical focus, the Bob Campbell Geology Museum (BCGM) plays an essential role in deepening our community's understanding of the natural world through geological perspectives as the region’s only museum dedicated to the study of the earth. Friends of the Bob Campbell Geology Museum sponsor paleontological field expeditions and the BCGM fossil preparation laboratory. Gifts will also help to create an “Appalachian Dinosaur” exhibit; create an outdoor “fossil digging site” for children; and build and maintain the museum’s collection of scientifically important specimens. The BCGM is open and free of charge 365 days a year from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
